The opportunity:
As a Team Leader – Secondary Systems, you’ll lead a high-performing team delivering specialist secondary design services across some of the state’s most important infrastructure projects.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the delivery of secondary systems design services using both internal and external resources. You’ll coordinate workloads, manage resources, and ensure high-quality design outputs that meet Powerlink’s standards, policies and timelines. A key focus will be leading and mentoring your team to ensure continuous development and a strong performance culture, while solving complex technical challenges as they arise.
You’ll play a vital role in aligning team capability and design outcomes with broader business objectives. By collaborating closely with Principal Engineers and other stakeholders, you’ll help drive project and strategic success across Powerlink’s asset lifecycle. You’ll also provide expert guidance on secondary systems design, ensure consistent implementation of standards across all work, and actively contribute to resource planning and design strategy.
The people you'll join:
As part of the Secondary Systems Design team, you’ll join a collaborative and experienced group of engineers and technical specialists who play a critical role in the planning and delivery of protection, control, and automation systems across our transmission network. The team is passionate about delivering high-quality design outcomes that support the safe and reliable operation of Queensland’s electricity grid. With a strong focus on teamwork, knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement, you’ll be supported by colleagues who are committed to technical excellence and contributing to Powerlink’s energy future.
What you'll bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering and RPEQ registration.
- Extensive experience in secondary systems design in large infrastructure or transmission projects.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team performance and capability development.
- Proven ability to manage both internal and external design resources.
- Ability to navigate complex technical and project environments with a solutions-focused mindset.
