The opportunity:
As a Line Layout Design Engineer, you’ll act as the lead PLS_Cadd specialist, providing expert knowledge and technical leadership across all aspects of transmission line layout design. You’ll support a wide range of services including project scoping, LIDAR integration, design estimating, software tools, and line layout development. This role also involves coordinating PLS_Cadd use, mentoring team members, and offering hands-on project support.
You’ll often take on the role of “responsible person” within project teams—serving as the go-to contact for design matters, scope, budgeting, and scheduling related to high-voltage (HV) primary design. In addition, you’ll provide valuable field-based support, acting as the owner’s engineer to ensure project execution aligns with layout design requirements.
As a Senior Line Layout Designer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality layout design and drafting services for transmission line projects. You’ll contribute your expertise to support project scoping, cost estimating, engineering surveys, and the coordination of minor transmission line works. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and efficient design outputs that support the successful delivery of our projects.

What you'll bring:
Line Layout Design Engineer:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Civil/Structural/Mechanical)
- You’ll have strong expertise in PLS_Cadd design, with a focus on 3D transmission line layouts and the application of Finite Element principles, along with the safe and accurate use of electrical clearances, insulators, conductors, hardware, and structure models.
- Your solid understanding of overhead line construction, conductor mechanics, material strengths, and cost drivers—paired with proficiency in AutoCAD—will support the delivery of practical, efficient design solutions.
Senior Layout Designer:
- Associate Diploma in Survey, Electrical or Civil Engineering plus relevant significant experience in transmission line layout design and PLS_Cadd
- You’ll bring extensive experience in PLS_Cadd design, including 3D transmission line layout modelling, the application of Finite Element principles, and the safe integration of electrical clearances, insulators, conductors, hardware, and structure models
- Strong working knowledge of overhead line design and construction principles, conductor mechanics, cost drivers, and be proficient in AutoCAD drafting software.
