• Two permanent positions are currently available—one within Network Connections and Operations, and the other in Commercial & Governance.
• Competitive Salary starting from $210,000 + 14.75 % Super for a 10 day fortnight

The opportunity:

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping legal strategy and enabling business success across Powerlink.

• You’ll deliver high-impact legal advice and drafting that empowers internal teams to act decisively and efficiently.
• You’ll manage complex legal matters with autonomy, while being supported by experienced Lead Legal Counsels.
• You’ll drive legal risk awareness and help embed practical, business-focused policies and training across the organisation.
• You’ll build external legal partnerships, ensuring cost-effective outcomes and capability uplift for the internal legal team.
• You’ll contribute to strategic outcomes by identifying legal opportunities that create commercial value and support policy development.

The people you'll join:

Based in our Virginia office in Brisbane, you’ll join a forward-thinking Legal team within Powerlink’s Finance and Governance division—an environment where your expertise will be valued and your impact felt. Reporting to either the Lead Legal Counsel – Commercial & Governance or Lead Legal Counsel – Network Connections and Operations, you’ll collaborate with passionate legal professionals who are trusted advisors across the business. This is a team that thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping strategic outcomes, and driving innovation in legal service delivery. You’ll be empowered to grow, contribute meaningfully, and help influence the future of energy in Queensland.

What you'll bring:

You’ll bring deep expertise in electricity law—particularly around network connections and compliance for TNSPs, generators, and load customers in the National Electricity Market—as well as strong capabilities in managing legal risk, drafting high-quality documents, and delivering strategic, plain-English advice. With at least ten years’ post-admission experience, you’ll have a proven track record across areas such as general contract and commercial law, infrastructure and energy regulation. Your legal insight will be instrumental in creating commercial value.

Essential qualifications:

• Qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with 10+ years post-admission experience
• Current Queensland Law Society practising certificate
