  • Competitive Salary starting from $210,000 + 14.75 % Super for a 10 day fortnight

The opportunity:

 

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping legal strategy and enabling business success across Powerlink.

 

  • You’ll deliver high-impact legal advice and drafting that empowers internal teams to act decisively and efficiently.
  • You’ll manage complex legal matters with autonomy, while being supported by experienced Lead Legal Counsels.
  • You’ll drive legal risk awareness and help embed practical, business-focused policies and training across the organisation.
  • You’ll build external legal partnerships, ensuring cost-effective outcomes and capability uplift for the internal legal team.
  • You’ll contribute to strategic outcomes by identifying legal opportunities that create commercial value and support policy development.

 

This is a rare opportunity to join a collaborative legal team where your expertise will directly support Powerlink’s strategic direction and operational excellence.

 

Please note this is a 12 month Max Term contract.

Based in our Virginia office in Brisbane, you’ll join a forward-thinking Legal team within Powerlink’s Finance and Governance division—an environment where your expertise will be valued and your impact felt. Reporting to the Lead Legal Counsel – Commercial & Governance, you’ll collaborate with passionate legal professionals who are trusted advisors across the business. This is a team that thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping strategic outcomes, and driving innovation in legal service delivery. You’ll be empowered to grow, contribute meaningfully, and help influence the future of energy in Queensland.

 

What you'll bring:

 

We’re looking for a confident legal professional with at least ten years’ post-admission experience and a strong track record in delivering strategic, plain-English legal advice. You’ll bring expertise in one or more areas such as general contract and commercial, construction and energy regulation. You’ll also bring experience supporting the procurement function within an organisation across the full contract lifecycle, including procurement assurance, contract administration and contract departures. Your ability to manage legal risk, draft high-quality documents, and create commercial value through legal insight will be key to your success.

 

Essential qualifications:

 

  • Qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with 10+ years post-admission experience
  • Current Queensland Law Society practising certificate
