The opportunity:
As a Senior Indigenous Relations Advisor, you will play a key role in building and maintaining sustainable relationships with First Nations communities across Queensland. This position supports Powerlink’s Reconciliation Action Plan and ensures alignment with cultural heritage frameworks and legislative requirements. You will guide a team of Indigenous Relations Advisors, providing strategic direction to strengthen partnerships with Traditional Owners and other First Nations stakeholders.
Your responsibilities include developing and implementing engagement strategies, creating opportunities for training, employment, and subcontracting, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation. You will also work with senior leadership to navigate policy changes, identify risks and opportunities, and oversee the auditing and reporting of First Nations partnerships. Additionally, you’ll mentor staff, providing guidance to foster cultural sensitivity and respect in all engagements.

What you'll bring:
- A degree in social sciences, environmental science, archaeology, anthropology, or a related discipline, OR significant experience with managing Indigenous Stakeholder Relationships or Cultural Heritage related activities.
- Strong existing relationships with Aboriginal Parties and government departments in Queensland.
- A deep understanding of Australian Aboriginal history, culture, and existing education and employment opportunities.
- Proven success in negotiating agreements with Aboriginal Parties and landholders.
- The ability to lead the development of strategies, frameworks, and compliance documents that support the management of First Nations interests.
