The opportunity:

 

As a Senior Engineer Operations Planning, you will be responsible for providing operational power systems engineering services and National Electricity Market (NEM) analysis. Your objective is to ensure the transmission network is operated in an economic, safe, secure, and reliable manner, compliant with Powerlink policy, procedures, and National Electricity Rules (NER).

 

You will maintain professional knowledge of power system technology developments, operating techniques, and the evolving dynamics of transmission networks and the electricity market. You will lead specialised technical work and teams, perform and maintain proficiency in power system analytic tools, and provide detailed forensic analysis and safety advice. You will review and develop operational procedures, facilitate knowledge capture and dissemination, and perform fault level, system strength, and inertia studies. Additionally, you will design and implement automation schemes, analyse electricity market outcomes, develop contingency plans, manage network constraints, provide technical support to real-time operations, and coach and mentor Operations Engineers.

 

The people you'll join:

 

Based in Virginia, Brisbane, you'll join our Network Operations team, reporting to the Principal Engineer, Operations Planning Lead. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team, working on exciting projects with cutting-edge technology.

 

What you'll bring:

 

You possess extensive knowledge of power system operations, secondary systems, SCADA, EMS, and other power systems modeling applications. You are well-versed in the National Electricity Market (NEM), National Electricity Rules (NER), and relevant commercial and legislative requirements. Additionally, you have demonstrated experience in leading teams to solve complex problems, driving strategic improvements, mentoring, and ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation. 

 

  • Relevant Degree level qualifications in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Register Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)
