The opportunity:

Powerlink is expanding, and we're on the lookout for a passionate Senior Engineer to join our Advanced Energy Management System (AEMS) project team. If you're driven by the prospect of shaping the future of Queensland's energy transmission network, this is your chance to make a significant impact.
 

In this role, you will provide professional engineering services and support for complex real-time applications, helping to maintain and enhance our energy management systems. This role involves collaborating with various departments to integrate new technologies and best practices in high-voltage energy management operations.

 

Further to this you will;

 

  • Lead and support the implementation of strategies to ensure the efficient operation of the AEMS
  • Maintain and rectify defects to optimise performance and seek improvement opportunities
  • Coordinate planned outage and fault management activities to minimise downtime
  • Manage AEMS configuration and patch management to ensure security and effective administration
  • Lead investigations and develop detailed reports on system integrity issues
  • Perform design and approval (RPEQ) for operational technology projects and emergency in-service changes
  • Create standards and technical strategies that align with Powerlink’s goals and policies

We are seeking passionate professionals to help us deliver cutting-edge technologies that will streamline processes, enhance customer experience, and introduce innovative ways of working.

What you'll bring:

 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering coupled with experience in Energy Management Systems (EMS)
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or the ability to obtain within 12 months

 

You should have a strong background in control systems and energy management systems. An advanced understanding of EMS and AEMS, including secondary systems and digital networks, is essential.

 

You should possess strong knowledge of engineering principles and industry standards related to the testing, commissioning, and maintenance of EMS and AEMS. Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive test environments for complex energy systems is crucial.

 

Additionally, proficiency in conducting investigations and providing detailed reports on system integrity issues is required. An advanced understanding of cybersecurity principles related to energy management systems is also necessary.
