The opportunity:

As a Senior Electrical Safety Professional, you’ll provide subject matter expert advice and leadership to ensure Powerlink meets its electrical safety regulatory, contractual and governance obligations, while driving continuous improvement in electrical safety governance and risk management across the business. 

 

You will develop, review and maintain electrical safety standards, guidelines and tools aligned with industry best practice. You’ll deliver high quality electrical safety insights, reporting and analysis to support informed decision making, and lead or support assurance activities to assess compliance with the electrical safety management system. 

 

You’ll expertly coach, mentor and advise leaders, employees, contractors and external stakeholders on effective electrical safety practices, working closely with subject matter electrical engineering experts across the organisation to strengthen electrical safety risk management. You’ll also support the investigation and management of electrical safety events and regulatory notifications, while building strong industry relationships to positively influence electrical safety practices and outcomes. 

 

 

The people you'll join:

Based in Virginia and reporting to the Manager, Electrical Safety, you will join Powerlink’s Electrical Safety Team within the broader Health and Safety Group. The team plays a key role in the effective management of electrical safety, delivering meaningful outcomes for customers and contributing to enterprise- wide initiatives, while maintaining a strong connection to frontline operations. 

 

The team operates in a collaborative and supportive environment that values transparency, continuous learning, and inclusive working relationships. Open information sharing is central to the way the team works, enabling collective problem solving and supporting the achievement of the best possible outcomes.

What you'll bring:

You’ll be a trusted electrical safety professional with extensive experience in and a strong understanding of electrical safety legislation, standards and industry best practice.  

 

You’ll bring sound judgement and practical expertise, enabling you to provide clear, risk-based advice in a complex, regulated operating environment among a diverse stakeholder group. 

 

You’ll be skilled in developing, implementing and assuring electrical safety systems, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends and translate insights into meaningful improvements.  

 

Equally, you are an effective influencer and coach, able to build trust, influence and lead change and work collaboratively with leaders, employees, contractors and subject matter experts across the business.  

 

Through your proactive mindset and strong industry engagement, you’ll contribute to continuous improvement in electrical safety performance and outcomes. 
 
Essential qualifications: 

  • Queensland Electrical Work Licence
  • Degree level qualification in Workplace Health and Safety, Process Safety, Process Engineering, Risk Management or similar, or extensive demonstrated experience in a high voltage electrical environment.
