The opportunity:

We are recruiting for a dynamic and disciplined Senior Commercial Manager – Network Connections to manage a portfolio of customer connections for our Transmission Network.

In this pivotal role, you will manage a portfolio of connections end-to-end customer connection application, from initial application through to offer to connect, ensuring commercially viable outcomes for both customers and the network.

 

You’ll be responsible for negotiating complex development contracts, managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring strong alignment with internal business partners and implementing the commercial strategy for transmission network connections.

Your expertise in infrastructure development—whether in transmission, distribution, or generation—will be key to delivering efficient, customer-focused solutions.

You will oversee the customer connection process, ensuring compliance with regulatory, technical, and commercial standards. This involves negotiating intricate contracts for sustainable network connections, engaging with customers and stakeholders to provide seamless experiences, and apply commercial acumen to balance customer needs with regulatory constraints.

Moreover, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to optimise solutions and maintain thorough documentation for alignment and governance. Promptly identifying and managing emerging development issues with stakeholders will ensure success of the projects.

The people you'll join:

Based in Virginia and reporting to the Manager Project Development - Central, you will work within Powerlink’s Network and Business Development Division.

 

This team has cultivated a culture of collaboration and commercial excellence, ensuring that the strategic objectives of the Network and Business Development division are met, enabled by the guidance of a visionary and empowering leader.

What you'll bring:

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, commerce, business, law, or a related field is required or a lesser qualification coupled with equivalent industry experience with a strong track record in commercial management and infrastructure development will also be considered.

You’ll be a commercially driven leader with a deep understanding of energy infrastructure development and strong stakeholder engagement skills. You will have a proven track record of negotiating commercial contracts in the energy sector and a solid technical understanding of transmission, distribution, or generation projects.

 

With extensive experience in commercial management, contract negotiation, and customer engagement within the energy sector, you’ll have demonstrated understanding of transmission network connections, infrastructure development, and energy generation projects. You’ll be adept at managing complex commercial negotiations and making sound investment decisions. Your exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills will enable you to foster strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
