The opportunity:

 

As the Senior Asset Risk and Compliance Engineer, you will support the Asset Risk and Compliance Team by providing expert technical direction, guidance and advice on all issues relating to state-wide asset risk and compliance obligations. In this role, you will ensure the identification of asset risks and processes to control, prevent, mitigate or eliminate unacceptable risks and ensure all risks are effectively managed.

 

Specifically, you will:

  • Provide professional advice and support to the Asset Risk and Compliance team to manage operational asset risks and compliance requirements to ensure Field & Asset Management (FAM), Maintenance Service Providers (MSP) and Powerlink complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices in managing asset risks and compliance 
  • Lead operational asset risk and compliance team activities for all regulatory risk and compliance reporting, including metering data and metering equipment to ensure regulatory compliance obligations are met and corrective asset mitigations are managed and reported.
  • Provide professional advice and support for metering data management and billing activities to improve asset data analytics for regulatory reporting and billing requirements ensuring metering data reliability and compliance
  • Provide competent and cost-effective technical support to field teams and customers in other groups, Powerlink Divisions and other MSPs to ensure the reliable management of operational risks of the transmission network.

 

The people you'll join:

 

Located in Brisbane, you will report to the Principal Engineer Asset Risk & Compliance, forming part of the broader Operational Engineering division. This role is designed to be a pillar of support for the Asset Risk and Compliance Team, offering expert technical direction, guidance, and advice on a broad spectrum of issues related to asset risk and statewide compliance obligations.

What you'll bring:

 

Your expertise:

  • Degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering 
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)

 

You will enjoy identifying asset risks and establishing effective processes to control, mitigate, or eliminate any unacceptable risks, ensuring comprehensive risk management.

 

With a focus on HV transmission assets, you will have demonstrated knowledge in the design, maintenance, and construction stages. You will also possess the ability to provide technical leadership and have a working knowledge of HV Electrical Engineering, Protection System Engineering, and Power Systems.

 

Your understanding around the implications of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) on business practices will be crucial, as is your knowledge of relevant legislative requirements such as the Electricity Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act, and Environmental Protection Act. Practical application of this knowledge in office, on-site, and construction activities is expected.

 

Naturally, you will demonstrate the ability to monitor and role-model safety strategies, policies, and practices, showing personal engagement with safety by proactively identifying areas of risk and implementing mitigation strategies. You will also enjoy applying your knowledge of transmission plant, equipment, associated systems, and field work requirements to manage and mitigate risks, ensuring the delivery of outcomes while monitoring progress.
