The opportunity:
The Secondary Systems Engineer role is all about providing design services for Powerlink's high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) transmission system.
You'll be making sure all the designs for Protection and Secondary Systems are delivered on time and within budget, following Powerlink's policies and standards. This includes everything from scoping and estimation to post-commissioning, using both internal and external resources.
Safety in Design is a big deal here, and you'll be thinking about it from the start of the project all the way through to decommissioning. You'll work closely with Principal Engineers and other stakeholders to make sure everything goes smoothly and meets business goals.
You'll also be keeping everyone updated on the progress of design deliverables, whether they're done internally or outsourced, and negotiating timelines based on resource availability.
Lastly, you'll act as the Owners' Engineer for outsourced projects to make sure everything is fit for purpose.
The people you'll join:
Based in Virginia, you will join our Secondary Systems Design team within the Design Solutions Group, reporting to the Team Leader Secondary Systems Design.
What you'll bring:
- Four year degree in Electrical Engineering and eligible for Corporate Membership of Engineers Australia.
Ideally, you will also be a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ). We are looking for candidates with proven expertise in protection and secondary systems design, including fault analysis, relay setting calculations, and substation control systems design.
