The opportunity:
As a Safety Advisor, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in shaping Powerlink’s safety culture across diverse construction and operational projects. You’ll provide strategic safety management, ensuring compliance with the highest standards and facilitating continuous improvement across the business.
- Lead safety management for high-profile projects, ensuring risk mitigation and compliance with HSE regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams from project managers to environmental specialists, ensuring all safety processes are seamless and integrated.
- Travel frequently across Queensland to key project and operational sites, providing hands-on support and ensuring site-specific safety protocols are upheld.
- Drive change and innovation in safety systems and processes, influencing real-time adjustments and improvements.
- Engage and coach stakeholders on best practices and industry standards, helping to build a stronger safety culture both internally and externally.

The people you'll join:
You’ll be joining a supportive and experienced Health & Safety (H&S) team that operates across Brisbane, Townsville, and Gladstone, providing critical safety support to Powerlink’s construction, operations, and maintenance activities. The team is known for its collaborative approach, strong field presence, and commitment to building a proactive safety culture. As a Safety Advisor, you’ll report directly to the Safety Lead and work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders including project managers, environmental teams, and field-based crews, as well as external contractors. With multiple roles available, you’ll be part of a flexible, regionally spread team that values knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and mutual support.
What you'll bring:
You’ll bring strong knowledge of safety management systems, risk and compliance frameworks, and a proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders across complex project environments. You’ll have experience providing safety support in construction, operations, or maintenance settings—ideally within the energy or infrastructure sectors—and be confident working independently across multiple sites. You’ll also be comfortable with frequent travel across Queensland, including to regional and remote project locations. Your ability to build relationships, adapt to changing priorities, and apply a practical, solutions-focused approach will be key to thriving in this dynamic role.
You will also hold the following essential qualifications:
- Degree level qualification in a field of safety studies coupled with experience or lesser qualification coupled with significant experience
- Formal investigation qualification or experience in contemporary event learning approaches
- Formal internal audit qualification (e.g. ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001) with audit delivery experience
