The opportunity:
As a Project Commissioning Manager, you will be responsible for managing the commissioning activities for individual projects within various Project Teams. Collaborating closely with Project Managers, Designers, Operations, and Field Staff, you will contribute to the development of Project Staging Plans and schedules, ensuring all activities are logically managed and aligned with Powerlink's works program.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing the management and validation of technical specifications for contracts related to testing and pre-commissioning. You will play a key role in developing Outage Management Plans, coordinating on-site commissioning activities, and preparing Commissioning Test Plans to ensure the functionality of complex circuitry and protection logic prior to energisation. Furthermore, you will manage site pre-commissioning and final commissioning works across multiple project stages, directing both internal teams and external Maintenance Service Providers to achieve planned outcomes.
In this role, you will lead the virtual test and commissioning team, ensuring all activities adhere to established plans. It will be your responsibility to ensure that Testing Providers meet their contractual obligations and to issue Field Commissioning Notices upon the completion of each stage, informing the business of commissioned systems.
The people you'll join:
Based in Brisbane, you will join our Infrastructure Delivery group within the Delivery and Technical Services division, reporting directly to the Team Leader commissioning.
What you'll bring:
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (B. Eng or equivalent recognised by IEAust);or
• Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor of Technology or equivalent, combined with relevant applied industry experience
Experience working in high-voltage environments, particularly with substations and secondary systems, is essential.
You should possess strong project management and planning skills, a solid understanding of substation design, and the ability to apply engineering concepts related to Protection, Control, Telecommunications, and Primary Plant Systems.
While not mandatory, a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) designation and specific transmission testing experience would be advantageous. Experience in operational roles, project management, and document management processes will further enhance your application.
