• Competitive Salary starting from $195,000 + 14.75% super (10 day fortnight)
• Available to you is the option to work a 9-day fortnight with RDOs every second week

The opportunity:

As an Outage Engineer you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining the safe, secure, and reliable operation of Queensland’s transmission network. Your work will directly influence how we plan and manage outages, respond to system events, and support real-time operations with expert engineering advice.

Further to this, you will:

• Perform detailed power system analysis and fault level studies
• Develop and maintain contingency plans and operational strategies
• Investigate and report on system incidents and network constraints
• Provide technical support to real-time operations and automation schemes
• Analyse electricity market outcomes to inform decision-making
• Collaborate with AEMO and internal teams to manage limits and compliance

The people you'll join:

Reporting into the Outage Engineering Team Leader, you will be part of an experience and highly technical team within our Real Time Network Operations division. This team provides engineering advice which guides network planning decisions to ensure operational issues are fully incorporated.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Your technical expertise will include experience with SCADA, EMS, and power systems modelling tools, as well as a solid understanding of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and relevant legislation. You will have hands-on experience with outage planning and contingency analysis, enabling you to assess operational risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. Just as importantly, you’re a confident communicator who can translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights. You thrive in collaborative environments, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to everything you do. Your ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to change, and contribute to a high-performing team will set you up for success in this role.
