The opportunity:

As the Maintenance Specialist Secondary Systems, your role focuses on improving maintenance practices and asset reliability by reviewing current processes, analysing data and costs, and identifying opportunities for improvement. It involves maintaining accurate records in SAP, conducting inspections and audits, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of maintenance activities. Your role will also support documentation development, problem-solving, and the creation of routine maintenance plans for Secondary Systems and Telecommunications assets.

 

Additionally, the role provides backup support during peak periods, facilitates workshops and meetings to align maintenance strategies, and ensures that all operational practices meet safety, reliability, and lifecycle expectations.  

 

It’s a hands-on, collaborative role that blends technical insight with strategic planning to drive continuous improvement.  

 

  • Identify improvement opportunities through maintenance data analysis.
  • Ensure SAP PM maintenance plans are accurate and complete.
  • Perform audits, inspections, and scope project tasks.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver work and maintain data accuracy.
  • Support and back up the Maintenance Specialist as needed.
  • Lead problem-solving to meet business goals.
  • Develop maintenance plans for Secondary Systems and Telecom assets.
  • Recommend improvements based on cost and performance data.
  • Create and update operational documents to align with strategy.
  • Run forums and workshops to align maintenance with lifecycle goals.

The people you'll join:

Based at our Virginia office, you'll join a dynamic and highly skilled team within our Secondary Systems, Metering & Communications Division. Using your technical skills and knowledge you'll collaborate with experienced professionals across Powerlink.  The team fosters a culture of innovation, open communication, and collaboration, ensuring continues improvement to maintenance practices and asset reliability.

What you'll bring:

Demonstrated expertise in planning and executing maintenance for HV substation secondary systems and telecommunications assets, with a strong focus on compliance and efficiency. Proven ability to interpret technical documentation, communicate effectively, uphold safety standards, and foster productive stakeholder relationships while delivering accurate, timely outcomes.

 

Advanced certificate level qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or significant progress towards completion plus relevant experience
