The opportunity:
As a Line Layout Designer at Powerlink, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective layout design and drafting services for transmission line projects across Queensland. Working across the full project lifecycle—from concept through to commissioning and maintenance. You’ll be responsible for producing detailed 3D designs using PLS_Cadd and AutoCAD, conducting engineering surveys, and supporting project scoping and estimation activities.
In this role, you’ll also provide technical layout design advice and reporting to both internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring all designs meet legislative, safety, and performance standards. You’ll manage survey activities using advanced tools and act as the Primary Layout Design Team’s “Responsible Person,” overseeing the coordination, budgeting, and delivery of design services. Your ability to apply engineering principles, communicate effectively, and maintain a strong customer and safety focus will be key to your success.

Based at our Virginia office, you'll be joining a skilled and supportive team of professionals within our Transmission Line Design team—part of Powerlink’s broader Design Solutions group. The team is made up of experienced designers and engineers, who are passionate about delivering high-quality, innovative solutions for both internal and external projects.
What you'll bring:
- A Diploma in Survey, Electrical or Civil Engineering
- Working knowledge and competence in PLS CADD design
- An understanding of electrical clearances, conductor mechanics, structure modelling and transmission line construction principles.
