- Competitive Salary $194,088 + 14.75% super for a 10 day fortnight.

The opportunity:
As a Legal Counsel, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping legal strategy and enabling business success across Powerlink.
- You’ll deliver high-impact legal advice and drafting that empowers internal teams to act decisively and efficiently.
- You’ll manage complex legal matters with autonomy, while being supported by experienced Lead and Special Counsels.
- You’ll drive legal risk awareness and help embed practical, business-focused policies and training across the organisation.
- You’ll influence external legal partnerships, ensuring cost-effective outcomes and capability uplift for the internal legal team.
- You’ll contribute to strategic outcomes by identifying legal opportunities that create commercial value and support policy development.

The people you'll join:
Based in our Virginia office in Brisbane, you’ll join a forward-thinking Legal team within Powerlink’s Finance and Governance division—an environment where your expertise will be valued and your impact felt. Reporting to the Lead Legal Counsel and assisting two Senior Legal Counsels, you’ll collaborate with passionate legal professionals who are trusted advisors across the business. This is a team that thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping strategic outcomes, and driving innovation in legal service delivery. You’ll be empowered to grow, contribute meaningfully, and help influence the future of energy in Queensland.
What you'll bring:
We’re looking for a confident legal professional with over 3 years’ post-admission experience and a strong track record in delivering strategic, plain-English legal advice. You’ll bring expertise in one or more areas such as electricity regulation, transmission, generation and storage projects, commercial and corporate law, construction, and project finance. Your commercial contract experience will be highly regarded and your ability to manage legal risk, draft high-quality documents, and create commercial value through legal insight will be key to your success.
Essential qualifications:
- Qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with 3+ years post-admission experience
- Current Queensland Law Society practising certificate (maintained)
