The opportunity:
As a Finance Systems Analyst (SAP) at Powerlink Queensland, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and optimising SAP finance modules to support accurate financial reporting, planning, and budgeting. You’ll operate at the intersection of finance and technology—bridging the Finance team’s needs with IT capabilities—while leveraging advanced SAP tools like SAP’s AI copilot Joule to streamline processes and deliver smarter insights.
This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong SAP expertise who thrives on problem-solving, process automation, and collaborative teamwork. Your contributions will directly support Powerlink’s Financial Planning & Analysis outcomes and help drive Queensland’s transition to a renewable energy future—making your work both meaningful and impactful.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Maintaining and enhancing our SAP S/4HANA financial system, ensuring optimal performance and leveraging new features to support evolving business needs.
- Owning and managing Powerlink’s financial master data and the internal allocation processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Supporting financial reporting and analysis, including the development of dashboards and reports using SAP S/4HANA.
- Driving automation of key financial processes, such as month-end close activities, using tools like SAP Joule and SAP BTP.
- Collaborating on SAP system upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives, staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- You’ll be the go-to SAP expert within Finance, helping to shape smarter, more efficient financial operations across the organisation.
The people you'll join:
Based in our Virginia office in Brisbane, you’ll join Powerlink’s Finance and Governance division—a collaborative and forward-thinking team committed to driving financial excellence and innovation. In this role, you’ll report directly to the Senior Systems Accountant and work closely with both finance and IT professionals to deliver impactful solutions that support Powerlink’s strategic and operational goals.
What you'll bring:
You’ll have a strong foundation in financial systems and accounting, ideally with 3–5 years of hands-on experience using SAP financial systems—particularly the SAP CO module—and familiarity with tools like SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Joule AI. Your ability to translate complex system functionality into practical, value-adding solutions will be key, along with a collaborative mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.
Qualifications include:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
Desirable experience:
- Professional certification such as CPA or CA is highly desirable, with additional credentials in information systems or SAP-related certifications considered advantageous.
