The opportunity:
The Telecommunications Project Commissioning Manager position is designed to provide expertise in testing and commissioning telecommunications and data networks for Powerlink projects.
The Telecoms Project Commissioning Manager is responsible for commissioning individual projects, both regulated and non-regulated, and works as part of various project teams under the leadership of the assigned Project Manager.
Some of the key responsibilities include managing all Telecommunications related testing and commissioning activities for high voltage substations and transmission lines across Queensland, ensuring safety and efficiency. This involves coordinating with Project Managers, Designers, Operations, Field Staff, and other divisions. The Telecoms Project Commissioning manager also develops Commissioning Staging Plans to be integrated into the overall Project Staging Plan.
Additionally, the Telecoms Project Commissioning Manager creates documentation outlining the scope of commissioning works, including a list of all equipment to be tested and commissioned. The role also involves managing and validating the telecommunications and data network-specific portions of testing and pre-commissioning components of contracts.
The Telecoms Project Commissioning Manager contributes to the Project Manager’s Outage Management Plan to ensure all commissioning requirements are included and managed effectively regarding safety and efficiency.
Finally, the Telecoms Project Commissioning Manager prepares Commissioning Test Plans to ensure all Telecommunications equipment is fit for its intended purpose prior to energisation.
The people you'll join:
Based in Brisbane, you will join our Delivery and Commissioning group within the Infrastructure Delivery division, reporting directly to the Team Leader Telecommunications Commissioning.
What you'll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Telecommunications/Electronic/Data Networks/Electrical Engineering (B. Eng or equivalent recognised by IEAust);or
- Advanced Diploma (or Associate Degree) of Telecommunications/Electronic/Data Networks/Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor of Technology (Telecommunications/Electronic/Data Networks/Electrical) or equivalent, combined with relevant applied industry experience.
- Experience of testing, commissioning and integrating Telecommunications and Data Networks equipment
- Experience in planning and organising detailed engineering projects.
- Experience and capability in the effective application of safe systems of work in a Project setting resulting in safe outcomes and / or performance improvement.
- Ability to understand all aspects of substation design at a high level
- Ability to understand and apply the engineering concepts of Secondary Systems
