The opportunity:
It is an exciting time to be part of the energy industry and especially at Powerlink, as we help shape the renewable energy transformation in Queensland and Australia. As part of this, we are delivering several major projects, including renewable energy developments, across Queensland.
The growth in our project portfolio has resulted in creation of a new Community Relations Team Leader role in our Community and Delivery Services Group supporting the delivery of our Major Projects portfolio. As the Community Relations Team Leader, you'll lead a team of regionally-based community relations professionals, ensuring strong relationships with communities and other stakeholders are formed. As a member of the Community and Social Performance Leadership team, you will:
- Guide and mentor the community relations team and internal stakeholders and provide strategic advice to affect positive community relations to enable community benefits and effective risk mitigation
- Develop regionally-focused community relations strategies and plans, to build and maintain trusted relationships with key communities in which Powerlink operates.
- Drive consistency and ensure the timely delivery of an agreed program of work aligned to Powerlink strategies and management system requirements
- Represent Powerlink in discussions with key external stakeholders, such as government and in the broader energy sector, on matters related to community and social performance
- Experience with land access issues in the energy infrastructure will be highly regarded as well as experience with linear infrastructure and construction.

This role will require regular travel to Queensland regions and communities to provide support where required.
What you'll bring:
- Degree level qualification in the areas of Social Science, Environmental, Communications, or another discipline relevant to community relations and social performance for infrastructure projects or lesser qualification if coupled with significant experience.
- Knowledge of community engagement and relationship initiatives for linear infrastructure or similar projects
- Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing teams in both field and office environments.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to resolve community issues and concerns.
- Deep understanding of community engagement and relationships incl. relevant legislation and issues relevant to linear infrastructure projects.
