The opportunity:
As a Commercial Officer, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the business by managing a variety of contracts and projects, ensuring optimal commercial and contractual outcomes. You will be the go-to advisor for identifying and mitigating commercial risks, working closely with contract managers and project teams to drive strategies that enhance financial and operational performance. Your expertise will help Powerlink minimise risks while maximising overall business success.
In this role, you will:
- Provide expert advice across a wide range of contracts and customer relationships, supporting post-award activities.
- Identify and address potential contractual and commercial issues, ensuring optimal performance and minimising risk exposure for Powerlink.
- Oversee your workload and ensure deadlines are met through effective planning and reporting activities.
- Work closely with Contract and Project Managers to assess and manage commercial risks, ensuring high-quality contract performance and positive contractor relationships.
- Independently oversee supplier relationships, supporting Contract and Category Managers in Supplier Relationship Management.
- Actively seek opportunities to improve the Contract Management Lifecycle, enhancing frameworks, processes, and tools for optimal performance and risk mitigation.
- Mentor and support team members, contributing to their professional development and growth.

The people you'll join:
You will join the Finance and Governance Division within the Supply Chain Services – Strategic Procurement Group, reporting directly to the Team Leader Contract Services. As part of a dedicated team of 10 professionals, you will collaborate closely with colleagues who are committed to delivering high-quality contract management and procurement services. The role is based at our Virginia office, providing a supportive and well-resourced environment to contribute your expertise and grow your skills.
What you'll bring:
The suitable candidate will possess strong knowledge of commercial and contractual principles, excellent analytical and negotiation skills, and extensive experience in managing complex contracts across various industries. They will demonstrate the ability to engage stakeholders effectively, apply problem-solving techniques, and utilise relevant contract management systems to deliver successful outcomes.
- Degree in Business, Finance, Supply, Procurement, Contract Management, or a related field, coupled with significant commercial and contractual administration experience.
