The opportunity:
As a Civil Construction Advisor, you’ll provide expert technical advice throughout the planning and delivery of high-voltage infrastructure projects. Working closely with Project Managers, you’ll support the development of project scopes, estimates, construction staging plans, inspection and test schedules, and contract documentation to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
Your role includes conducting inspections on substations and civil works, ensuring all construction meets Powerlink’s safety, quality, and compliance standards. You’ll also mentor and guide Facilitators and Inspectors, support recruitment efforts, and contribute to the development of civil procedures, specifications, and training materials.
You’ll represent Infrastructure Delivery in the creation of construction-related documentation and provide practical on-site support to resolve issues. A key part of your role will be monitoring contractor performance and offering solutions to ensure project milestones and safety requirements are met.
Additionally, you’ll support stakeholder engagement, particularly with landholders, and promote cultural heritage compliance. Through coaching and leadership, you’ll help build internal capability, ensuring construction staff are skilled, supported, and aligned with project goals.
This role will require regular travel to project sites across Queensland to support on-ground inspections, stakeholder engagement, and construction activities.
The people you'll join:
You'll join a highly skilled and supportive Construction team within our Infrastructure Delivery group. Working alongside engineers, project managers and field professionals, you'll collaborate in a culture that values safety, innovation and continuous improvement.
What you'll bring:
- Associate Diploma or equivalent qualification in a Civil Construction discipline or a relevant Trade Qualification
- Current Qld "C class" Drivers Licence
- Significant demonstrated planning and civil construction experience that allows you to provide technical leadership and coaching to staff and contractors regarding civil construction works in an electrical environment.
- Ideally, you are well versed in high voltage power systems particularly transmission lines and/or substations, secondary systems and/or telecommunications.
- An understanding of geotechnical and civil works such as earthworks, foundations, drainage, and road construction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work systems, stakeholder management, and contractor oversight.
