  • Competitive salary starting from $185,000 + 14.75% super (10-day fortnight)

The opportunity:

 

As a Community Relations Advisor for CopperString 2032, you will have significant and active local community experience in North Queensland with strong connections and knowledge of local communities, landholders, stakeholders and social networks. As a significant proportion of the role will involve on-site liaison with communities, landholders and other stakeholders, extensive time will be spent working in the field and it will be important for you to be able to travel to nearby regional communities, or to other locations to provide support where required. You'll play you’ll play a pivotal part in cultivating strong, sustainable relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and landholders. You will also:

 

  • Build and nurture respectful, cooperative relationships with communities and landholders, aligning with Powerlink’s Community Engagement Strategy and Land Access Protocol.
  • Develop and implement targeted community relations strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders to enhance relationships within operational regions.
  • Identify and address risks associated with community relations, land access, and stakeholder engagement through strategic planning and internal consultation.
  • Stay informed about best practices in community engagement, landholder relations, and land access, promoting these practices across the organisation.
  • Represent Powerlink in community settings, advocating for community interests and fostering positive relationships.

 

The people you'll join:

 

Based at our Townsville hub, you’ll collaborate with our passionate Community & Social Performance team across QLD who are committed to delivering reliable electricity transmission while fostering strong, sustainable relationships with local communities and stakeholders. Our culture values innovation, integrity, and collaboration, providing opportunities for growth and development in a supportive environment.

What you'll bring:

 

  • Degree in Environmental or Social Science, Communications, Engineering, or relevant discipline; or equivalent experience in community and/or stakeholder relations for infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with mentoring and guiding others in the technical and professional requirements of community and stakeholder relations.
  • Proven ability to build lasting relationships, negotiate effectively, and manage community issues on behalf of an organisation.
  • Experience with data management software, databases, and GIS systems.
  • Working knowledge of the legislative frameworks which underpin Powerlink’s land acquisition and operations 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a wide range of environments, including remote or rural communities.
