The opportunity:
The Senior Network Design Engineer provides technical leadership and develops IP technology and telecommunication solutions for Powerlink’s High Voltage Transmission network. Responsibilities include project design estimates, on-time and on-cost detailed designs, senior technical supervision, subject matter expertise, and problem resolution. The role also involves recommending business and technical solutions, supporting improvement initiatives, influencing decision makers on telecommunications assets, and promoting information sharing through training materials and sessions.
The people you'll join:
Based in Brisbane, you will join our Telecommunications Systems Design group within the Delivery and Technical Solutions division, reporting to the team leader.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or the ability to obtain the RPEQ registration within a 12 month timeline.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching Certification or higher.
- Microsoft Windows Server, Redhat Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, Next Generation Firewall (Checkpoint/Palo Alto/Sourcefire) and Cisco/Ruggedcom Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches coupled with relevant experience.
- Proficient in Segment Routing, network architecture development, system integration testing and network security.
Ideally, you will also bring additional knowledge and skills such as demonstrated ability to analyse project scope and conceptual designs, the ability to deliver and lead practical and consistent telecommunications designs and exposure to telecommunications within the power industry.
