The community you will join

As a Senior Operations Engineer in Network Operations, based in Virginia, Brisbane, you will be joining a supportive and collaborative team, working on exciting projects with cutting edge technology. You will work within a team of Operations Specialists responsible for providing operational power systems engineering services and National Electricity Market (NEM) analysis. The objective is to ensure the transmission network is operated in an economic, safe, secure and reliable manner, and is compliant with Powerlink policy.

Your expertise

• Degree level qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
• RPEQ or ability to secure RPEQ accreditation within six months (or a negotiated period, if required due to the successful candidate’s personal circumstances).
• Extensive knowledge of power system operations and behaviour, and physical transmission elements and their characteristics.
• Extensive knowledge of techniques used to manage system strength issues and network constraints.
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA, EMS and other power systems modelling and analysis applications.
• Extensive knowledge of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and the National Electricity Rules (NER)
• Extensive knowledge of operational schemes and how they support network operations
• Demonstrated experience leading/coordinating various parties to align on an appropriate solution to a complex problem.
