As a Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor, you’ll provide advice and services regarding Cultural Heritage management and agreements, develop strategies and provide high level support to the business for the effective management of heritage risk and cultural heritage matters in accordance with our policies. You will also:

 

  • Support and mentor Cultural Heritage Officers in identifying and mitigating cultural heritage risks and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies for Cultural Heritage risk management in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Guide the development, review, and implementation of standards, procedures, and guidelines for cultural heritage assessments and First Nations interests.
  • Mentor Cultural Heritage Officers in conducting assessments, inspections, and surveys, ensuring compliance with company policies and processes.
  • Maintain relationships with government bodies to stay informed of policy changes and influence where appropriate. 
  • Proactively develop and maintain constructive working relationships with First Nations People and across the organisation to deliver organisational priorities and projects.

Your expertise

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in archaeology, anthropology, cultural heritage management, or related disciplines.
  • Significant experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traditional Owners and representative bodies.
  • Knowledge of Queensland cultural heritage legislation and compliance practices.
  • Ability to lead and implement corporate strategies related to Cultural Heritage management.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with Aboriginal Parties, government departments, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in GPS and GIS for recording cultural heritage sites.
