As a Manager of Operational Innovation and Improvement, you’ll oversee the team responsible for developing, planning, and implementing impactful transformational changes and innovations that that strengthen operational capabilities. This includes:


  • Developing and executing a comprehensive program strategy to achieve strategic objectives, overseeing program governance, and monitoring performance through robust reporting to governance bodies. 
  • Ensuring alignment across diverse project teams is crucial, with responsibilities extending to managing program schedules, dependencies, and resource allocation. 
  • Leading the Operational Innovation and Improvement Team, the role champions innovation within the organisation, fostering internal relationships and leveraging external networks to enhance Powerlink's standing in the innovation community. 
  • Continuous improvement is emphasised through staying abreast of innovation management techniques, business improvement methodologies, and emerging technologies. 
  • Maintaining compliance with financial and procurement policies, the manager also manages program budgets effectively. 
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, customers, and representative bodies, proactive risk management, and providing strategic guidance to align program activities with organisational goals are integral aspects of this role.

The community you will join

Based in Brisbane, this newly created position will report directly to the General Manager of Operational Support Services, emphasising leadership over a high-performing team. The role will involve overseeing and empowering up to 6 direct reports within Operational Support Services, ensuring cohesive collaboration and effective execution of strategic initiatives. This structure aims to strengthen operational capabilities and drive excellence across functions, aligning closely with organisational goals to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Your expertise

  • Tertiary qualifications in Management, Business or Project Management, coupled with significant experience in program and project management or a related discipline.
