The opportunity:
As the General Manager of the Major Projects Office, you will lead the development, delivery and embedding of program management systems and controls for a multi-billion- dollar portfolio of major projects. Your role includes managing assurance, governance, and risk management frameworks to support all major projects at Powerlink. Essentially, you'll ensure the effectiveness and consistency of the major projects management lifecycle at an enterprise level, enabling Powerlink to successfully deliver a portfolio of multi-billion-dollar projects.
You will oversee key functional areas, including project management systems, quality systems, and business management improvements. You’ll effectively engage with senior leaders across the organisation, enabling a strategic enterprise approach to program management, managing financial, reputational, political, and portfolio risks.
You’ll demonstrate a broad understanding of the electricity transmission or major linear infrastructure sectors and will ensure the group is continuously monitoring and adopting an enterprise approach to driving innovative methodologies and world-class techniques to all major projects.
As a values-based senior leader with proven success in leading diverse teams, you will skilfully translate business strategy into operational plans, fostering an inspired and empowered culture, enabling innovation, high-performance and achieving strategic organisational objectives.
The people you'll join:
As an integral member of the Major Projects leadership team, you’ll report to the Executive General Manager Major Projects, contributing directly to the division’s strategic priorities.
As General Manager, you’ll lead the teams responsible for the governance supporting large-scale projects, thereby ensuring Powerlink’s position as a key developer, capable of safely delivering a portfolio of complex and significant CAPEX projects over the next decade.

What you'll bring:
Your degree-level qualification in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline, or lesser qualifications with significant experience in a similar field, will be complemented by your level of personal drive, resilience, and commitment to the delivery of works.
You will have significant experience in leading large diverse teams in complex, matrix organisations in the delivery of major infrastructure projects. Your dedication to fostering a culture of development and growth will be evident as you strive to further enhance employee engagement, capability, and ultimately, cultivate a high-performance culture.
You will enjoy collaborating closely with senior leadership to translate business strategy into operational plans, ensuring that planning demonstrates measurable, cost-effective delivery of key outcomes and clear alignment to strategic goals. With strong commercial acumen, you will be adept at understanding key business drivers and applying sound commercial principles to achieve the best outcomes for Powerlink.
