The opportunity:

 

In this approximately 12 months, temporary opportunity, as our Cost Control Specialist, you'll be responsible in setting and upholding the standard for cost control and change management within Major Projects. You'll assist with integrating cost controllers and senior cost controllers into the Project teams, ensuring consistent application across the major projects’ portfolio.

 

Establishing a collaborative working relationship with Project Delivery Teams, you will ensure mentoring across the teams are provided, along with regular assurance and verification reviews are conducted. Thus ensuring exemplary cost management practices, throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Part of the role will ensure deployment, maintaining and update enterprise data libraries within EcoSys to projects and maintain consistency across the portfolio of works to allow for data visualisation for the Major Projects portfolio. You will also support budget development and cost and schedule time phasing for projects for handover to the delivery teams.

 

You will also assist in the development and review of Major Projects standards, procedures and management plans, as well as development of work instructions for EcoSys.

This temporary opportunity will be based in our Major Projects Ofice in Bowen Hills and will report into the Project Controls Standards Manager, you will join a dynamic PMO team united by a passion for delivering cutting-edge infrastructure projects that will shape the future of Queensland’s energy network. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that major projects are executed within approved budgets while identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating financial risks.

What you'll bring:

 

You have bachelor’s degree qualifications in engineering or finance, or a lesser qualification coupled with significant experience in a Senior Cost Control function, working across a sizable portfolio of projects across energy or linear infrastructure projects.

 

You’ll bring developed leadership skills within a major project cost management capacity with good understanding of both greenfield and brownfield development and delivery with an in-depth understanding of Project Lifecycle, from inception to commissioning.

 

Experience with planning, estimating and cost management software (e.g. Primavera and MS Project, EcoSys, Expert Estimator), along with reporting platforms (e.g. Power BI).

 

You’ll have proven success developing and maintaining standards, frameworks, and procedures. You’ll also have experience in PMBOK cost management principles, along with proven ability to apply to projects.

 

You’ll have proven skills in influencing and engaging with both peers and Senior Leaders to ensure effective management of cost related risks, proactive capture and application of lessons learnt to continuously improve relevant standards.
