The opportunity:

 

As the Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor, you’ll provide expert advice on complex cultural heritage matters, helping to manage heritage risk and ensure compliance with legislation and Powerlink policies. You’ll support and guide Cultural Heritage Officers across projects, including assessments, site inspections, and engagement with Traditional Owners, landholders, and project teams.


You'll lead the development and implementation of cultural heritage strategies, contribute to the creation of internal procedures and guidelines, and maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and government agencies. A key part of your role will be fostering respectful partnerships with First Nations communities and supporting the delivery of audit outcomes to uphold our heritage commitments.
 

The people you'll join:

 

You’ll be joining a passionate and supportive group within Powerlink’s Indigenous Partnerships team, a dedicated team that leads our engagement with First Nations communities across Queensland. The team works closely with Traditional Owners, stakeholders, and project teams to ensure respectful, meaningful, and collaborative partnerships. You’ll contribute to shaping how Cultural Heritage is understood and managed across the business, all while helping to strengthen Powerlink’s broader commitment to reconciliation and inclusive infrastructure development.

What you'll bring:

 

  • Degree or equivalent qualification, coupled with relevant experience in archaeology, anthropology, cultural heritage management, or other relevant disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traditional Owners and representative bodies.
  • Deep understanding of Queensland’s cultural heritage legislation and ideally, its application to infrastructure projects.
  • Strong capability in stakeholder consultation, cultural heritage strategy development, and compliance oversight.
