Find a career that matters and lasts
As an Outage Management Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of shaping a sustainable energy future. In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate closely with Operations Outage Engineers to deliver a seamless schedule of reservations with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). Your mission will be to foster strong customer relationships and maintain a solutions-focused mindset, all while ensuring minimal impact on connected customers and the National Electricity Market (NEM).
You'll engage with a diverse array of stakeholders, including traditional and renewable generators, large-scale mining and manufacturing companies, electricity distributors, and Powerlink’s internal teams. Your efforts will facilitate an annual work program worth over $2 billion, driving the energy transition forward. By coordinating access to Powerlink’s electricity transmission network and its supporting systems, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the energy grid.
This role offers you the autonomy to make impactful decisions and the opportunity to negotiate with various stakeholders, assess outage impacts, and manage key relationships. You'll ensure regulatory compliance, find innovative solutions to unexpected challenges, and leverage your technical expertise to make informed decisions.
The community you will join
Based in Brisbane, Gladstone, or Townsville, you'll report to the Outage Management and Operational Customer Relations Team Lead and become an integral part of a dedicated team of ten, including Senior and Outage Management Specialists. This cohesive team thrives on collaboration and mutual support, working closely together to achieve their goals. You'll find a professional environment where everyone's contributions are valued, and teamwork is paramount. Whether you're brainstorming solutions, coordinating schedules, or celebrating successes, you'll be surrounded by colleagues who are as passionate and committed as you are.

We’d also love you to have:
- Considerable experience working within the operation and maintenance of electrical power transmission or distribution systems.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence outcomes utilising operational and technical knowledge.
- Demonstrated knowledge of power system operations, able to describe power system behaviour, physical transmission elements and the characteristics of the individual elements.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical and organisational information in order to make informed decisions and/or provide informed advice.
- Basic understanding of the NEM with the ability to conceptualise potential NEM outcomes as consequence of transmission influence.
- Knowledge of electrical safety policy, procedures and legislation.
